I have been working with young people at Hamstead Hall school to create a piece to be showcased at the CBSO centre next month. We had loads of fun using a melody I composed and enhancing it using reggae beats and jazz chords. The biggest challenge was to motivate and encourage new players- making the few notes they could play sound funky, but it worked!! My favourite part was taking a well-known reggae riddim and giving it to the bass players to explore.
